Sustainable Finance – Event Recap

On April 3rd, GEA organised an event on the topic of sustainable finance and invited two guests to share their expertise on ESG analysis, impact structuring, sustainable investment, and sustainable financing instruments.

While the guests must remain anonymous for privacy reasons, it is safe to say both are leaders in driving change within the banking sector. Serving as Impact Structuring advisor, ESG Advisor, ESG Analyst Manager and Security Services Expert at top French banks, respectively, each took the opportunity to share valuable insights on what it’s like working in the sustainable finance industry.

They put emphasis on the fact that the establishment of a clear legal definition of greenwashing is essential in order to assess the legitimacy of companies’ claimed sustainability practices. Indeed, they explained that there is a lot of involuntary greenwashing due to the nascent state of the market and there being no legal definition of greenwashing. To avoid the risk of greenwashing, companies should avoid using fluffy language and back up their claims with verifiable data. The conference ended with an insightful Q&A where the participants were able to ask questions about the sustainable finance industry and the roles of both experts within their respective banks.

GEA would like to thank our guests for this insightful conference and suggests you to have a look at the other blog posts on sustainable finance that we have published.
